Christmas is that magic time of year when we are all more inclined to silence the feelings of guilt, indulge in some innocent excesses and say Yes.
Yes to the triple chocolate pudding topped with chocolate sauce; yes to the second slice of mom’s 5-layer homemade lasagna; yes to a long open mouth nap in front of the family; yes to Trading Places airing on Tv once again.
But after lunches ending when the dinners start, soporific cross-generational board games and Christmas movie marathons, what’s left to do?
Forget the cinema, the gift returns (It’s the thought that counts!) and the long walks to aid the digestion, and keep indulging in life’s pleasures wallowing in bed: burn off the post-Christmas overeating guilt under the covers.
Here’s my list of the 10 hottest movies and tv series to keep you in bed at least up to New Year’s Eve. Whether you’re in pairs or alone (or in a group), I’m not the one explaining to you what to do under the covers to kill the time.
The Dreamers (2003)
Drama, Romance | 1h 55min | movie details
Set against the background of the ’68 Paris student riots, it’s about the friendship between a French poet’s twin son and daughter and an American university student, developing into emotional and sexual exploration. The result is a (not just) cerebral threesome built up through intellectual games and a common cinematic passion. The camera lingers on the moments of heterosexual pleasure and suggests homosexual and incestuous relationships by focusing on gestures and looks.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Drama, Mystery, Thriller | 2h 39min | movie details
Paradoxical journey into the mind of a New York City doctor (Tom Cruise) who pushes himself on a precipitous and dangerous night-long odyssey of sexual and moral discovery after his wife (Nicole Kidman) admits a sexual fantasy about a man.
Watch it without any pretence of really understanding it: you’ll only remember the famous masqued orgy sequence in a mansion full of naked women. And maybe the opening scene of Nicole Kidman stepping out of a black gown, naked.
Nymphomaniac vol.1 (2013)
Drama | 1h 57min | movie details
It’s the story of a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac’s life and sexual adventures narrated by the protagonist’s voice, Joe, while gets emotionally naked in front of the man who saved her after discovering her badly beaten body in an alley.
The movie digs deeper and deeper into nymphomania, while the hypereroticism digs into Joe’s life taking up time and space, complicating social, family, loving and working relationships.
Sex scenes: wide-ranging and explicit.
My advice is to skip Vol. II: it weighs heavier than the Christmas lunch.
Original Sin (2001)
Drama, Mystery, Romance, Thriller | 1h 56min | movie details
Cuba, late 1800s.
The plot runs on the sexual tension between a wealthy coffee merchant and his mail-order bride from America he falls madly in love with. She hides a turbulent past that will drive them apart, but the passion and love/obsession will make their lives cross again. Angelina Jolie’s hypnotic charm and the hot scenes with Antonio Banderas are enough to forget the not too brilliant acting, dialogue and plotting.
Drama, Romance | 2h 15min | movie details
Two naked bodies crossed on a bed, masturbating each other to climax. That’s the opening scene: don’t expect anything less explicit.
Plot: an American cinema school student living in Paris is trapped in a loveless shotgun marriage with the girl he cheated on the great true love of his life with. In 24 hours he calls back into his memory what’s been an overwhelming story of love, sex, passion, sex, excesses, sex and mistakes. And sex. Unsimulated.
Hot scenes are countless: threesome, fellatio, cunnilingus, masturbation, ejaculations towards the audience and a penetration shot from inside the vagina.
Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996)
Crime, Drama, History, Romance | 1h 54min | movie details
It’s the story of the rivalry between two lifelong friends, a princess and her servant girl, in sixteenth-century India. It will develop into jealousy, betrayal, revenge and sexual intrigue. It’s also the tale of an ancient art of seduction to learn from books, in the school for courtesans.
Sexuality is displayed through nudity, lust and an exotic eroticism.
It’s one of the most erotic Bollywood movies.
Masters of Sex (2013-2016)
Drama, Romance | 4 seasons, 46 episodes | series details
It’s about the unconventional lives of Bill Masters and Virginia Johnson, the pioneers of the science of human sexuality, whose research touched off the sexual revolution and taught America how to enjoy sexual exploration between 1950s and 1960s.
Their controversial research led them monitoring and helping couples to experience sexual pleasure from behind a glass.
Much of the sex on the show is clinical, but when Bill finally begins to let himself go, things get a lot hotter.
Memorable erotic scene (season 2, episode 12): Virginia takes control and helps Bill to overcome his sexual dysfunction driving him to pleasure through a highly erotic naked hug.
Sexual interactions and nudity aside, the series is a masterpiece.
Game of Thrones (2011-)
Adventure, Drama, Fantasy | 8 seasons, 73 episodes | series details
GoT needs no introduction but, for newbies, it’s the award-winning fantasy drama television series that follows the political, economic and religious intrigues among the most powerful noble families of some fictional continents fighting for control.
Power games, strategic alliances, conspiracies, murders, historic battles and a lot of sex: perverse, disturbing, passionate, paid and sometimes consensual; heterosexual, homosexual, involving couples, groups and also a eunuch.
Memorable erotic scene (season 3, episode 5): the ‘cave scene’ where Jon Snow breaks his vow of celibacy with Ygritte during a passionate sex scene filled with romance and love.
Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi | 3 seasons, 24 episodes | series details
The story begins as eight strangers from different cultures and regions of the world unexpectedly become mentally and emotionally linked to each other.
Memorable erotic scene (season 1, episode 6): a rousing polysexual orgy breaking every physical, cultural, sexual and gender barrier.
A gay man, a transgender lesbian, and two straight men share an orgasmic moment.
Comedy | 2 seasons, 16 episodes | series details
Star-studded anthology following the complicated lives of some Chicagoans dealing with love, sex and self-improvement in a modern changing world where technology impacts on interpersonal relationships.
Memorable erotic scene (season 1, episode 6): the can’t-miss threesome between a happy husband (no less than Orlando Bloom in all his naked, athletic splendour), his wife and a common friend. Erotic, realistic and awkward.
